Cardington Cafe was founded in 2022 by Alex Stansbery with the vision of creating a welcoming community space in the heart of small-town Cardington, Ohio. What began as a simple love for coffee and connection has grown into a local hub where neighbors, friends and visitors can come together to enjoy craft beverages, locally roasted coffee and fresh, in-house baked goods.

At Cardington Cafe, most of the food served is made in-house, from scratch, ensuring freshness and flavor in every bite. Beyond coffee and sweets, Cardington Cafe takes pride in supporting other small businesses by featuring merchandise and specialty products from local vendors. Every item served and sold is chosen with care, reflecting a dedication to quality, creativity and community.

About the Owner

Alex is a proud 4th grade teacher with a heart for learning, laughter, and community. Married to his husband of 8 years, Charli, the two share their home with their beloved dogs, making life full of love (and a little bit of chaos). A lifelong theater enthusiast and avid Wizard of Oz collector, Alex brings creativity and joy into everything he does.
After buying a home in Cardington, Alex quickly fell in love with the town’s charm and spirit. He now dedicates much of his time to community projects, always eager to give back and help make Cardington a wonderful place to live. Whether he’s in the classroom, volunteering, or cheering on a local event, Alex is happiest when he’s connecting with others and making a difference.
